He became a Chartered Surveyor in 1985 whilst working at Gerald Eve and then moved to CB Richard Ellis in 1986 to specialise in investment. He also worked at CB Richard Ellis joining the fund management department in 1989. In 1990 he moved to specialise in investment transactions and development funding running the UK business space investment and development funding team 1997 -2001. He was previously a Partner at Workman with responsibilities for major property companies such as Hammerson, Threadneedle and Quintain.
